Slytherin Green Cowl

Hey, remember me? Real life has kicked my butt this January, but the good news is that I have lots of stuff that I want to share with you all over the next bit. I just need to get my thoughts in order and some photos taken. In the meantime, I will just share my latest favorite FO, which is shown here on a rare appearance of Salvbard since I was feeling unphotogenic. Make no mistake, this project is mine, mine, mine.

Pattern: Dolores Park Cowl by Parikha Mehta
Yarn: Misti International Misti Alpaca Chunky in color 1440
Needles: US 15 / 10.0 mm

I bought this lucious yarn ages ago when The Knitting Room in East Arlington was closing its doors. I hadn't been able to bring myself to make anything with it, for fear of not making just the right thing. It is so very soft that I knew I wanted something where I would get the advantage of getting to touch it all the time, especially near my neck or face. Also the fuzziness of the yarn made me want to avoid a lot of fancy patterning, since it will get lots in halo as it wears. Then in my Ravelry wanderings I found this pattern, and I knew it was perfect for me.

The stupid cold weather combined with what a fast knit this pattern is was great motivation to actually make something with this snuggly yarn. I actually knit this pattern from the bottom up, rather than the top down, as the pattern reads, but otherwise the changes were small. And just in time for more snow this week!

2008 in Review

Wow I need to take crafty photos. In the meantime I did a quick inventory of the past years knitting and crochet. Somehow in 2008 I went through 12.8 miles/20.6 km of yarn making:

1 bag
1 poncho
1 toy
2 scarves
3 afghans
3 hats
4 sweater
5 book scarves
11 baby items
18 pairs socks

Crazy! And all that while finishing my MS. Here is to more creativity in this new year.
