My sister asks for very little, so when she texted me with a knitting request, I was right on it. After a few questions back and forth to figure out what she was looking for, I ended up with this result. Unfortunately I didn't manage to finish this up before the end of the season, but I am very pleased with how it came out.
The color is fabulous, and this yarn is from fairly deep stash. I had acquired it at the Somerville Yarn Swap that we ran in 2010. Yikes 5 years ago! This was a great use for a single 50g skein, with some left over.
Pattern: Knotwork Cabled Headband (free Ravelry download) by Lucy Liebenstein
Yarn: Knit Picks Merino Style in Tide Pool (discontinued)
Yarn Supplier: 2010 Somerville Yarn Swap
Needles: US 8 / 5.0 mm
Mostly I followed the pattern, except for performing a provisional cast on so that I could graft the stitches in the end rather than sewing the cast-on and bind-off. Not only did it make me feel very clever, but the grafting produced a much stretchier and comfortable headband, with no seam.
