Icelandic Thistle Hat

In November, I had traveled to Iceland with Majes. While we were there we picked up some souvenir yarn, and I had a fabulous plan to make myself a hat to wear with my red coat.

Pattern: A Gift of Thistle by Tanis Gray (free)
Needle: US 5 - 3.75 mm
Yarn Supplier: The Handknitting Association of Iceland

I had forgotten how much I enjoyed doing colorwork. I am very pleased with how this came out, and I am plotting mitten options with the (planned) extra yarn.

2018 Temperature Blanket - January Progress

The last few years there has been a movement each January where there is a rush of people making temperature blankets. The idea is simple: do a row for each day representing the day's temperature. With a little math

Here is January:

Looking around the internet, there are a lot variations, both knit and crocheted. With the yarn I had selected though, I ended up going with a simple single crochet blanket with a large enough hook to keep it from being too stiff.

I may have been a little over ambitious, as I started a very generously sized blanket for a queen (or slightly less generously king) bed. From previous blankets though, I know that will get it a lot more use.

Super excited about this project!
